Provision Content

The Joint Committee of Congress on the Library shall, on and after January 3, 1947, consist of the chairman and four members of the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate and the chairman and four members of the Committee on House Oversight of the House of Representatives.

Amendments

1996—Pub. L. 104–186 substituted House Oversight” for House Administration”.

Change of Name

Committee on House Oversight of House of Representatives changed to Committee on House Administration of House of Representatives by House Resolution No. 5, One Hundred Sixth Congress, Jan. 6, 1999.

Effective Date

Section effective Jan. 3, 1947, see section 245 of act Aug. 2, 1946, set out as a note under section 4301 of this title.

Member of Committee With Respect to Financial Management and Budget and Program Development

Pub. L. 106–554, §1(a)(4) [div. A], Dec. 21, 2000, 114 Stat. 2763, 2763A–195, as amended by Pub. L. 109–13, div. A, title III, §3402(a), May 11, 2005, 119 Stat. 272; Pub. L. 109–289, div. B, title II, §20703(d)(6), as added by Pub. L. 110–5, §2, Feb. 15, 2007, 121 Stat. 39, provided: That notwithstanding any other provision of law, effective with the One Hundred Seventh Congress and each succeeding Congress the chair of the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives shall serve as a member of the Joint Committee on the Library with respect to the Librarys financial management, organization, budget development and implementation, and program development and administration, as well as any other element of the mission of the Library of Congress which is subject to the requirements of Federal law.”
